When one identifies as a woman or is perceived as one by a normative medical system, when one has a gender identity that goes beyond the binary model, or experiences interlocking systems of oppression, the medical care and attention received are often inadequate, absent or even abusive. Our experience testifies to this, as do many studies on the subject.
We would like to read about these experiences: when suffering is denied, rejected, left in silence by an authority that should be able to alleviate it, or judged by loved ones who do not always understand it. Whether you are the person concerned or the person standing by their side, supporting them, we want to hear from you.
By reappropriating and creating key words, we want to bring out a singular and collective voice. You can share your experiences of pain, day by day, in an instantaneous way. Fragments, micro-stories (280 characters maximum), freeze-frame. You can hashtag it #womenofpain and #femmesetdouleurs so that a cloud of testimonies is created on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, from your personal pages.
